Mentors Needed
Stepping Stones Mentoring, a program of STEPS at Liberty Center, in collaboration with Edgewood Middle School in Wooster and Orrville Middle School, needs your help! Mentors for middle school youth are needed for the 2013-2014 school year. It doesn't take special skills to be a mentor. One hour a week can make a difference. Training and support are provided to assure a successful mentor/mentee relationship. Feel free to pass this information on to others.

| Demonstrating Support for Medicaid Expansion
Ms. Douglas and other representatives from Liberty Center Connections, Inc. were in Columbus on April 11, 2013 to show their support for Governor John Kasich's proposal to expand Medicaid coverage for Ohio citizens earning up to 138 percent of federal poverty level (roughly $15,400 per person or $23,050 for a family of four).
Show your support for Medicaid expansion in Ohio!
The expansion is vital for healthy, workforce ready Ohioans struggling to feed and house themselves and their families, let alone afford healthcare. Show your support by calling your local Ohio representative and voice your support. Click here for information to contact your representative. For more on the rally in Columbus, click here to view an article appearing April 12, 2013 in The Daily Record newspaper in which Bobbi Douglas was interviewed.

Recovery is possible...
Josie's* Story....
"I had been a successful nurse for 13 years, married and with three children. I had a full-time job and a supportive family. I could not have been happier. How could I be an addict? I still remember my first prescription for opiates. Looking back now, I feel like I was given a death sentence with that prescription. I had no idea what that pill was going to take from me. After a few weeks I was addicted. I lost my job, career, marriage, family and earned myself a felony conviction.
Today, I have five years sober and clean. With the help of counseling, I was able to learn how dangerous prescriptions are and the tools necessary to live a sober life. Prescription opiates lead to the use of heroin; I have never met a heroin addict who has not started their addiction without the use of a prescription opiate. Education, prevention, and treatment are the only way to address this epidemic."
